The Day of Remembrance of Heroes of Krut

Today we celebrate the Day of Remembrance of the Heroes of Krut.
On January 29, 1918, an important battle against the Bolsheviks took place on the railway platform in Kruty, which lasted for six hours, in which 70 to 100 fighters from the Ukrainian side were killed.
In order to restrain the advance of the Bolsheviks on Kyiv, auxiliary units formed from patriotic youth were sent.
They were students and graduates of the Bohdan Khmelnytskyi Kyiv Military School, volunteers and activists.
Half a hundred Ukrainian soldiers with 16 machine guns and one cannon fought heroically for six hours against the Bolshevik army, which was many times superior in manpower, equipment, and artillery.
In this heroic battle, 300 Bolsheviks were killed, and the offensive was stopped for 4 days. This made it possible to conclude the Brest Peace Treaty (Brest-Litovsk Peace Treaty).
Today, as more than 100 years ago, Ukraine suffers from enemy attacks. And our glorious soldiers heroically protect us from the descendants of the Bolsheviks.
Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the heroes!
