Today is the Day ofDefenders of Ukraine!

Today, we solemnly observe Defenders of Ukraine Day.

This national holiday was instituted on October 14, 2014, to coincide with the Feast of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, who has historically safeguarded the Cossacks during their campaigns and served as the patroness of all Ukrainian warriors.

As of 2023, Ukraine has transitioned to a new ecclesiastical calendar, whereby the Feast of the Intercession, one of the foremost Orthodox celebrations, together with the Day of Defenders of Ukraine and Ukrainian Cossacks Day, is now commemorated on October 1.

We extend our deepest gratitude to all defenders for their unwavering strength, valor, and resilience in the face of adversity. We offer our prayers for the safety and well-being of our soldiers.

We pay tribute to the memory of all fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives for the liberty and sovereignty of our nation.
